I would like to thank all of the volunteers who gave of their time and expertise in coaching our Y girls basketball teams. Those who were gracious enough to do so were Bennie Higdon, Josh Long, Mike Mattern, Danette Keininger, Kenneth Norman, Tim Hartley, Jeremy Boardman and Chad McWhirt as well as the parents and grandparents of the girls who were here for practices and games supporting those girls as they experienced, some for the first time, the great game of basketball. Thanks to all of you for supporting the kids of our community to learn, grow and see examples of positive leadership.

Also, a special note to recognize a few high school students who worked with the PreK-K girls. Shelby Stone, Kristyn Ford and Ranissa Shambarger worked with a group of little girls who were playing for the very first time. Those wide eyed little girls, clad in their pink colored Y basketball t-shirts listened to everything that the HS girls told them and then did their best to emulate what they saw and heard. Another example of positive young leaders, paying it forward. There were a few high school students that were also involved in that program as well as others here at the Y. Kyle & Kaleb Kelsheimer, Brodie Hough, Carter Frieden and Caitlyn Mullen did a good job working with the older girls, officiating their games and working inside the program. Speaking of the same, those same kids will be working with the boys basketball players who will be playing on Saturdays during January and February.

Gymnastics is underway for the January-February classes. Terri Adams and her instructors have begun working with kids from Pre-School up on gymnastics skills and moves. Those classes are on Monday nights beginning at 4:45pm. Terri is assisted by Tonya Cooper, Sidney Owens, Lyndzie Thomas and Kelsey Thomas. They would love to have more students involved in a quality program that keeps growing here at the Y.

The adult basketball season for Winter 2015 is about to get underway. If you have a team and want to play, contact me asap!

Indoor Youth Soccer registration is now underway. The season begins on Saturday February 21st. The registration deadline is February 10th. The Blue Gym will house that fast moving sport headed up by our Soccer Coordinator Seth Denney.

We will have information upcoming on SPARK, Y Summer Day Camp, Softball, Spring Outdoor Soccer as well as Adult Outdoor Soccer. So please stay tuned!

FALL ADULT SOFTBALL AND ADULT SOCCER!!!

Registration for Fall Youth Sports are underway as we get closer to the start of school for Wabash County kids. I am excited to announce the start of a couple of adult programs for fall.

The first is Adult Co-Ed Softball. We have had this program in the past. We took a hiatus last Fall and want to bring it back this Fall. The season will run from around August 20th through October 15th. Games will be played on weeknights at the Field of Dreams. We will finalize that after we get an idea of how many teams we will have. Team sponsorship is $300 with players signing up through their team. I have the information at the front desk at the Y. Player fees will be $20 for Y members and $30 for program participants. We will begin accepting player fees after team rosters have been submitted to me. There will be a team manager meeting on Monday August 18th at 6pm at the Y.

The second program is Adult Soccer. Teams will be formed and games will be scheduled to start in late August. Player fees will be $35 for Y members and $60 for program participants. The deadline will be August 15th. A number of people have asked us to start an adult program. I believe this will be a successful program that will be very popular. Registration is underway either at the Y or online at our website.

POUND is a full-body cardio jam session, combining light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses into a 45-minute series. Burn between 400 and 900+ calories per hour, strengthen and sculpt infrequently used muscles, and drum your way to a leaner, slimmer physique – all while rocking out to your favorite music.

New Class!

BODY BARRE is a workout based on small isometric movements focusing on your core, arms, thighs, and seat.  This class will help you connect your thoughts and focus towards each muscle you will be working.  Using mostly your own body weight, Body Barre will be a small but mighty challenge on your body and your minds. (Avoid wearing shorts to this class).
