Lifeguard Certification Course

WABASH COUNTY YMCA

Lifeguard training is offered at The Y. During this American Red Cross certification course candidates will become lifeguards by gaining the necessary skills needed to recognize, prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course certifications include Lifeguard/First-Aid/CPR/AED and Oxygen Administration for Professional Rescuer (valid 2 years). Registration will close a week prior to the start of the course. At this time participants will receive an email with the blended learning course link. All online course work must be completed prior to the first day of the in-class skills sessions. Take your certification anywhere in the USA or apply for a job within you own community YMCA!

Prerequisites:

  • 15 Years of age on or before the final day of the course

  • 300 Yard swim using the Front Crawl and Breast Stroke with Rhythmic Breathing

  • 10 lb brick retrieval from deep water in less than 1 minute, 40 seconds

  • tread water for 2 minutes without arm support
