Job Summary:

Lifeguard

Now Hiring: Lifeguard – Keep Our Community Safe & Make a Difference!

What You’ll Do:
- Maintain active surveillance of the pool area to prevent accidents and respond quickly to emergencies.
- Know and review all emergency procedures, staying calm and focused under pressure while following the YMCA’s “safe-in-six” model.
- Consistently apply safety rules and guidelines for the pool and aquatic areas, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
- Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and state health department regulations.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe pool environment by inspecting the pool for hazards upon arrival.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum age of 16.
Current certifications in:
- American Red Cross and Professional Rescuer CPR/AED. (The YMCA will pay for this after hire)
- First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration.
- Completion of child abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire.
- Strong ability to stay alert, remain calm under pressure, and respond quickly to emergencies.
- Physical and mental readiness to perform lifeguard duties following YMCA standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see and hear distress signals in the aquatic environment and respond immediately.
- Remain alert at all times, with no lapses in consciousness.
- Perform all lifeguard skills, including rescue and first aid procedures.
- Maintain visual and auditory awareness of the entire pool area and assigned zones.

As a Housekeeping Attendant, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the YMCA. From cleaning common areas to ensuring supplies are stocked, your work will help create a positive and healthy environment for our entire community.
What You’ll Do:
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, fitness areas, offices, and other public spaces.
- Dust, vacuum, mop, and ensure all surfaces are spotless and well-maintained.
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and other essentials as needed.
- Empty trash and recycling bins regularly to maintain a clean environment.
- Conduct daily inspections for cleanliness, sanitation and upkeep, promptly reporting maintenance needs or damages to their supervisor.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored after use.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures for handling cleaning products and equipment.
- Promote YMCA values — Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility — through your work and interactions.
- Perform other housekeeping duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure the facility operates smoothly.
What We’re Looking For:

Building Coordinator

The Wabash County YMCA is seeking dependable, professional, and community-minded individuals to join our team as Building Coordinators. This position plays an important leadership role during evening and weekend hours by helping oversee YMCA operations and ensuring a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for members, guests, and staff.
The Building Coordinator serves as operational supervision in the absence of a YMCA Director and works closely with staff across multiple departments to support daily YMCA operations.
Schedule
- Rotating schedule
- Approximately 1-2 shifts per week, with the potential for more
- Includes weekday evenings and weekends
- Typical building coverage hours include:
- Weekdays: 5:00 PM – Close
- Saturdays: 9:00 AM – Close
- Sundays: 12:00 PM – Close
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Supervisory experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Must be able to pass a background check
- CPR/First Aid certification required within 60 days
- Ability to respond appropriately to safety and emergency situations
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee YMCA building operations during assigned shifts
- Conduct routine facility walkthroughs and security checks
- Ensure program areas are set up, presentable, and ready for activities
- Support front-line staff and assist with member or participant concerns
- Respond to emergencies and follow YMCA emergency procedures
- Complete incident reports and communicate important information to leadership
- Assist with member check-in, memberships, program transactions, and building tours using YMCA software systems
- Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, volunteers, and staff
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive YMCA environment
- Ensure unused areas are secure and exterior doors are properly locked at closing
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and program staff regarding concerns or facility issues
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or CEO
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to use hands and arms to operate equipment and perform facility duties
- Ability to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or balance as needed
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to respond quickly during emergencies

Position Summary: The Umpire is responsible for officiating games in a fair, consistent, and professional manner. This role ensures that all participants adhere to league rules while maintaining a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for players, coaches, and spectators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Officiate games according to established rules and league guidelines
- Make accurate and timely calls with confidence and consistency
- Manage game flow and maintain control of the field or court
- Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and fellow officials
- Ensure player safety and sportsmanship at all times
- Handle disputes or concerns in a calm and professional manner
- Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled games
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of sport-specific rules (baseball, softball, etc.)
- Previous officiating experience preferred but not required
- Strong decision-making and communication skills
- Ability to remain impartial under pressure
- Dependable and punctual
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to move quickly and maintain positioning throughout the game

Seasonal Field Maintenance Staff

Location: Field of Dreams facility (Softball side)
Position Summary: Supports the upkeep and preparation of softball fields and surrounding areas to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare fields for games and practices (dragging, lining, setting bases)
- Perform routine grounds care (mowing, edging, watering)
- Maintain infield surfaces and address minor repairs
- Keep dugouts, bleachers, and common areas clean and safe
- Assist with setup and teardown for games and events
- Operate basic maintenance equipment safely
- Report and address safety concerns promptly
Qualifications:
- Experience in groundskeeping or landscaping preferred, but not required
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Dependable, team-oriented, and detail-focused
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods
